Description
The Ocean Mural, depicting the ocean life of the Channel Islands, brought a splash of Blue Mind to the playground located high on a hill in the geographic center of San Francisco. Painted in 2000 by Ashley Wolff and Ms. Whitcomb's fourth grade class, the mural was painted in conjunction with class reading of Scott O'Dell's book, "The Island of the Blue Dolphins."

The students loved all of the creatures. Sea turtles, sharks, whales and fish became friends, but the humpback whale was a particular favorite for many. The children said that the mural made them feel as if they were really swimming in the sea. The ocean mural made them feel special, even more beautiful.

With schoolyard renovation and installation of new portable classrooms, the B203 Ocean Mural was demolished on June 14, 2018.

A bit of the flotsam was salvaged, and "The Holy Mackerel" resurfaced at the 2018 Decentralized Web Summit. https://imgsnp.co/p3ml2
